Andrew "Andy" Murdoch (born 20 July 1968) is a Scottish former footballer, who played as a goalkeeper for Celtic, Partick Thistle and Hamilton Academical. ==Career== Murdoch began his career with Celtic and had two separate loan spells with Partick Thistle〔 before becoming their record signing in February 1991 for a fee of £85,000.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Partick Thistle all time records )〕 Murdoch moved out of the senior game in 1995 to join the police〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Players of the 90s ) 〕 and spent time with Greenock Juniors〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Supporter's () views ) 〕 before returning to Thistle for a final short spell.〔 He also played with Johnstone Burgh. Murdoch was involved in one of Scottish football's more bizarre moments when Paddy Connolly was denied a hat-trick during his time at Dundee United, when referee Les Mottram failed to notice his shot had come back from the inside stanchion in a February 1993 match against Partick.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Dundee United A-Z (P): Partick Thistle )〕 Despite defender Martin Clark handing the ball back to Murdoch to restart, Mottram missed the goal and handball to wave play on, with Connolly scoring twice in the match in a 4-0 win. Mottram went on to referee in the 1994 World Cup the following year.
